Spiritual Apprenticeship – Chapter 2:
By nature except the natural man has someone who will regularly inspire him through discipline, he may easily settle down with status quo, and before long get into self-commendation exercise.
To become successful as an apprentice, you must of a necessity do all of the following:
Locate the Trainer:
Sports men go in search of the best coach in their community. You cannot have more foresight than the man you have in sight. Your inspiration cannot exceed what your inspirator offers, nor your motivation stronger than your motivator’s.
Admire Him:
How much of inspiration that is drown from a man is a function of the degree of admiration you have for him.
Admiration come through observation and an inner witness. This offers the trainee a double level of assessing the trainer, spiritually and mentally.
Seeking an Association:
Once you have located the suitable trainer who you also admire, the next step to take is that of seeking possible association. If he is within reach, set out a plan to effect a contact and if he is not, wisely think of an approach to it.
Strive with Purpose:
In apprenticeship, the goal of the trainee must be kept in focus. His vision coupled with the virtue that motivated him to the trainer must not be traded for something else. Purpose is the catalyst that keeps a man in his strive for mastery and excellence.
Endure Discipline:
How much a man achieves in any field is a function of his discipline. Any man who despises discipline today will never have a future. Discipline is a way of inducing control and self-denial – a denial of today’s pleasure in order to gain tomorrow’s joy.
