Spiritual Apprenticeship – Chapter 1:
Apprenticeship has plenty of advantages to offer those who are ready to subject themselves to it.
We will now consider some golden nuggets that apprenticeship offers:
i. Impartation of Unction:
There are two major ways by which the work of grace is made manifest in the believers. One is by direct contact with God, and by impartation through other human vessels. Every apprentice after being trained, starts off his ministry with an updated knowledge of his and this is why he has the privilege of doing great works than his mentor.
ii. Character Development:
The world will have regard for you and respond to you when they see you as a consistent man who is not easily moved. This again is learnt during the period of apprenticeship.
iii. Discipline:
Discipline is self-control either to do what you don’t like to do or to be denied what you like to do.
iv. Setting of Patterns:
A pattern-less life is an aimless life void of order. This may make a man end up going about in circles or zigzag instead of straight. The essence of order is to acquire speed or productivity
v. Wisdom:
Wisdom is the combination of foresight and experience. If a man has experienced something in the past, you don’t have to repeat the same. All you need to do is to relate with him to pick up his experience and thereby increase your wisdom.
vi. Great Works:
Being an apprentice today doesn’t reduce a man’s future, it rather makes it greater. You never lose anything for being a student.
vii. Acquire Experience:
Experience doesn’t equal knowledge. The latter is higher and usually more current than he former. This is not to say however that you can substitute knowledge for experience.
viii. Maturity:
Time is one of the ingredient required for developing maturity. It is a central value to every vision and zeal, otherwise one may ignorantly assume a leaned position while still a babe in the things of the spirit.
ix. Patience:
Patience should be a major companion of any man who desire to climb up the ladder of success.
x. Accountability:
You accountability to a trainer enhances your accountability to yourself when you are alone and have no one to whom you report.
