Rich Dad Poor Dad – Chapter Two

Lesson One: the rich don’t work for money.

Most people never study the subject of money. They go to work, get their paychecks, balance their check books and that’s it. On top of that, they wonder why they have money problems. Then, they think that more money will solve the problem. Only a few realize that it is their lack of financial education that is the problem.

Most people use fear and greed against themselves, and that is the start of ignorance. Most people live their lives chasing paychecks, pay raise and job security because of the emotions of desire and fear; not questioning where these emotion-driven thoughts are leading them.

To spend your life living in fear, and never exploring your dreams is cruel. To work hard for money, thinking that will buy you things that will make you happy is also cruel.

To wake up in the middle of the night terrified about paying bills is a terrible way to live. To live a life dictated by the size of your paycheck is not really a life. Thinking that a job will make you feel secure is lying to yourself. That is cruel, and that is the trap I want you to avoid if possible.

I have seen how money run people’s lives, don’t let that happen to you. It is the ignorance of money that causes so much greed and fear.
